Student Communication, Information, Education, Activities and Projects at the national and local level

As a national peak organization, which is, basically the synergistic emergence of local bodies, one of CEEM's main roles is to keep the Student Councils (MSCs) in contact between each other in order to share experiences and projects. Through the five geographical regions, RCs cooperate with MSCs in order to work on solving their local problems and try to increase their activity and CEEM Committees' work and presence on the local level.

CEEM recognition as a major stakeholder in the Spanish Medical Education paradigm guarantees privileged and first-hand information from Government and Professional bodies in all the topics that affect Medical Students, thus, the knowledge-transmission and communication with the individual student is one of CEEM's main concerns. In order to achieve this, throughout the year, several information campaigns are organized and coordinated through all Medical Schools in the different issues CEEM advocates for.

In recent times, the number of local activities in which MSCs are engaged has experienced a huge increase, which has meant in return a growing participation of students involved in their local Councils. Some of these activities include: Newcomer's Days in Medical Schools, Basic Surgical Skills Workshops, World AIDS Day awareness and fundraising activities, Medical Education meetings and seminars, Rare and Forgotten Diseases Day, Tropical Diseases Day, Bioethics discussions through film viewing and debating...

CEEM's largest project is the National Conference on Medical Education, which has just undergone its fourth edition, with more than 800 students from all over the country. For two days, Spanish Medical Students can meet, learn from each other, connect, be informed and discuss the most important issues of their Med School experience and future role as Doctors with the main stakeholders of the moment.

This last term we have also started a three-day formative meeting for Medical Students' representatives known as "interJEEM" focused on building leadership and training the local representatives in the knowledge, abilities and skills needed for obtaining the best possible results at their Faculties and ensure continuity in Students' Representation.
